Book Review: ‘The Silent Friend’ by Diane Jeffrey

Curling up with a Coffee and a Kindle

The Silent Friend by Diane Jeffrey

Wow. I wasn’t sure what to expect with this one but after seeing it recommended on social media I decided to request on NetGalley, and then saw the audiobook available at my library. I am finding the audiobooks more engaging these days as I have been struggling with my concentration.
Did this book engage me! Wow, the narrator was superb. I love the Irish accent anyway, and Michele Moran did a spectacular job of showing the trauma and devastation of the incident. I listened to it in 2 days which tells you something!
The characters were absolutely fascinating and really showed the reader different sides to every story. The perspectives and time frames were so effective and I loved it.
Highly recommend.

5 out of 5 stars.

A miracle in Vietnam!?

The Antique Economist

Imagine in a school there is a quiet kid who doesn’t participate much in group activities and is always minding his/ her business. But if someone decides to bully that person, then he/she would definitely stand up against the bully! That’s basically Vietnam! Vietnam has always been a country which has been described as a tourist paradise. From mountains to beaches, Vietnam has it all. But, what is the miracle? What has Vietnam experienced lately that has made the people to claim it to be the “Next Asian Miracle!”

I would really love to visit Vietnam someday! 🙂

Nuggets: Codine by The Charlatans — Aphoristic Album Reviews

Before he became Patti Smith’s bass player, Lenny Kaye compiled the 2 album set, Nuggets: Original Artyfacts from the First Psychedelic Era. Released in 1972, the two-LP set covered American garage rock and psychedelia from the years from 1965-1968 and was a major influence on punk rock. Rhino Records reissued an expanded version of the […]

Album Review: Cream’s ‘Disraeli Gears’ is the Quintessential Soundtrack of the 1960’s — TREMG

Cream is perhaps the greatest trio of musicians to ever be assembled in a single band. The talent from Eric Clapton on guitar, Jack Bruce on bass and Ginger Baker on drums is undeniable, and while their chemistry as a group together was far from perfect, the trio has certainly shown flashes of brilliance together. […]

21 Books for 2021: A Yearly TBR

The Bookaholic Dreamer

Hello there! Hope you are having a great day!

I’m lightyears behind everyone else, but here I am – slowly, very slowwlyyy making my way through these beginning of 2021 posts.

Late To The Party GIF by MOODMAN

Even though I know I’m late with these, I’m really enjoying writing them! I could still be doing these in May who knows haha.

Today I get to show you my 2021 TBR! I had a yearly TBR for 2020 which I did not follow at all, but I tried my best to be mindful to cater for my changing mood when selecting these 21 books. I’m also making it a goal to check up on how I’m doing with this TBR every couple of months! I chose books for this list that I want to challenge myself to read, books that I have been putting off for a long time and books that I have been excited about…

Websites for Book Lovers

a writer’s blog.

One of the great things about the internet is how much more access we have to books, both in the sense that we can come across books we never would have before if they’re largely only published in one country, and because it’s also easier to find indie books that we otherwise might not have been able to access before.

Goodreads: Obviously this is the most popular one. I really do love Goodreads. After Livejournal, it’s probably my favourite ‘social media’ site. The atmosphere is just really lovely and everyone talks books all the time. I’ve made some great friends over there and spend so much time reading different reviews. There are also loads of communities that offer ARCs and review copies of books, so it’s a great place to find books directly as well. Definitely recommend if you’re not over there already!
